Taveuni teams coached by Sefanaia Bogi made a good start in the first day of the Northern Bligh Water Sevens Series yesterday.

First Light Taveuni Green and First Light Taveuni Red played well despite the challenges they faced.

Bogi said the rugby club was formed in 2014 with an intention to provide the opportunity for players to showcase their talents.

“We played in 17 tournaments and won a few,” Bogi said.

“The players are ordinary dalo farmers and we pay for our own expenses by doing fundraising in the Garden Island. We will be grateful if we can get assistance from generous sponsors.”

First Light Taveuni Red beat Gaunavou Barbarians  7-0 but lost 0-5 to Cakaudrove.

First Light Taveuni Green beat Wainikeli Green  29-7 and St Theresa 22-7.
