Kurukuru Too Strong

The Solomon Islands futsal side, Kurukuru, have one more test to pass before qualifying for the 2016 Futsal World Cup in Columbia.
The reigning champions finished off strongly in the fourth round of the 2016 Oceania Futsal Championship after walloping rivals Vanuatu 6-1 at the Vodafone Arena last night. And they will need to win or draw against a winless Fiji today to qualify. The Vodafone Fiji Futsal team lost to New Zealand 3-1 last night.
The Kurukuru were in their best form and controlled the first 20 minutes well with their skills. Kurukuru led 3-1 at halftime.
Both teams lifted intensity in the second-half seeing Vanuatu applying the pressure in the opening minutes but Kurukuru were simply too strong in all facets of play.
Solomons will play their final match against hosts Fiji today to seal their spot in the World Cup and head coach Juliano Schmeling respects the host team.
“Vanuatu is a great team, they have improved a lot but that’s gone, we will now focus on Fiji,”he said.
‘’Even though Fiji has yet to win a game, they will come out firing and we need to be on our best form.
“After the tournament we will go back and put together a plan for the future.”
Vanuatu head coach Louis Dominique said their defence let them down but aim for a good finish today against Tahiti at 3pm.
“Our defence let us down but we aim to bow out with a win against Tahiti.”
Meanwhile, in the first match Tahiti defeated New Caledonia 2-1.
