Swedish International Development Minister Isabella Lövin arrived into the country yesterday to look at venues for the UN Global Summit on Oceans and Seas that will be held in Fiji in June.

The summit is scheduled to be held from June 5 to June 9 and is co-sponsored by Sweden.

Foreign Affairs Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabola showed Ms Lövin around Denarau Island, and the properties which will house the expected 3000 to 5000 delegates.

Ratu Inoke confirmed that Fiji “might have to put two cruiser boats at Port Denarau to help in accommodation.”

This will be the first Triennial Oceans and Seas Global Conference which aims to address the issue of ocean governance and assess progress on implementing targets under the proposed Sustainable Development Goal 14.
