Ba’s Winning Return

The Alvin Singh-captained Ba side started their Vodafone Premier League 2016 competition in style at Govind Park in Ba yesterday.
What happened: The ‘Men In Black’ came from behind to fight off a determined and fired-up Lautoka side winning 3-1.
The Blues made a perfect start 10 minutes into the game when Valerio Nawatu capitalised on a perfect pass from Kavaia Rawaqa to beat goalkeeper Josaia Ratu.
Abbu Zahid and Saula Waqa led the attack but failed to crack the Blues defence led by veteran Peni Finau. Halftime: Ba 0 – 1 Lautoka.
Ba came back a revamped side and found the equaliser in the 57th minute when Avinesh Waran Suwamy’s kick was unintentionally handled by Finau in the box.
Junior Narendra Rao scored beating goalkeeper Levi Tawake.
Ba got their act together and scored two quick goals by Malakai Tiwa and Suwamy to hand the Blues their first loss.
Big play: Defender Alvin Singh for masterminding and controlling play for Ba.
Star turn: Midfielder Samuela Kautoga for his effort in keeping tab on Malakai Tiwa (Ba).
Comments:
Ba coach Imdad Ali said: “This is a good way to start the season. We were down by a goal in the first-half and the change in plan second half proved the winner for us.”
Lautoka coach Johnny Williams said: “We just have to look to the future. I’m not happy with a few decisions but it’s all water under the bridge.”
