Departing Kean Set High Standard: Kumar

Francis Kean has set a high standard of service delivery for the management and staff to follow, says Minister for Local Government, Housing, Environment, Infrastructure and Transport Parveen Kumar.

Minister Kumar and staff of the ministry farewelled the Permanent Secretary for Infrastructure and Transport last Friday at the Mechanical Workshop in Walu Bay, Suva.

“This is the challenge and legacy that you leave with your colleagues,” he said.

Mr Kumar said Mr Kean had stood tall among many giants and professionals and had outshone them. He added this ray of light that he had nurtured in his colleagues would be a beacon for their career pathways.

The Minister said being the billion-dollar ministry in Government his responsibilities were not easy.

“With your never say die attitude, we have seen you run and successfully completed this journey,” Mr Kumar said.

As the outgoing Permanent Secretary’s Minister he said he was proud of the achievements made; and together they could walk tall with dignity among those who had once ridiculed them.

“In fact, they now realise our importance.”

He called upon all staff of the ministry and commercial statutory authorities to uphold the teachings of their friend and colleague who they had farewelled. “Let’s be consistent and further excel the ministry’s service delivery.”

Mr Kean thanked the kind words by Minister Kumar and the staff for their support during his term with the ministry.

He concluded by presenting a ministry cheque of $726,706.72 which was handed over back to Government as remittances from Department of Work’s Trade and Manufacturing Account (TMA).
