Dudley Intermediate School headgirl wants to become a neurosurgeon in the future just like one of neurosurgery’s great Dr Ben Carson.

Grace Qovu, 13, a Year Eight student was inducted as the headgirl last Friday.

Dr Carson is retired and is now a candidate for the Republican nomination for President of the United States.

“I want to become a neurosurgeon because there is only one neurosurgeon in Fiji,” she said.

“My aunty once gave me a movie based on Dr Ben Carson’s life.

“I was moved after watching the movie and since then I been inspired to become a neurosurgeon,” Grace said.

“I will study hard to become and hope to meet Dr Ben Carson one day.”

A neurosurgeon is a doctor who specialises in surgery on the brain and other parts of the nervous system.

Grace said she was inspired by Dr Carson who worked hard from his poor background to become one of the world’s best neurosurgeons.

Grace said she was happy and excited to be the headgirl.

“I will work with my deputies and prefects in managing duties in school,” she said.
