In a bid to maximise the efficiency of Tourism Fiji’s communication -public relations and social media-strategies, to market Fiji as an ideal leisure and business travel destination a summit has been called this week.

Tourism Fiji’s Public Relations Unit is organising a Communications Summit that will be held at the Head Office in Namaka, Nadi from February 15-19.

Tourism Fiji’s Global Public Relations Manager Patricia Mallam said the Communications Summit aims to add value to existing efforts to market Fiji as an ideal leisure and business travel destination in 2016.

She added that Tourism Fiji will bring together representatives from its global public relations and social media agencies based in Australia, China, and North America to attend the week-long Summit.

“Eight from around the key markets we are present in and remaining are from Head Office,” she said.

“Our agency representatives would be working together at the summit to better coordinate efforts and integrate a solid social media strategy that supports the global team.

“These media trips are good because they have a wide reach and are able to entice their audience (based on their knowledge of their own markets) to seriously consider visiting Fiji.”

She said as part of the Summit, Tourism Fiji has included a session which includes the Fijian media, who also play an important role in the development of the tourism industry, to be part of the opening day of the programme.

The local media will get the opportunity to meet Tourism Fiji’s global PR Agency reps, followed by a Q&A session today at the Radisson Blu Resort Fiji, Denarau.
