Mereani Koto, 30, could not control her emotions when her son Niko Veiqali Koto was inducted as Year One class prefect.

The six-year-old attends Annesley Methodist Infant School.

“I am so happy with my son’s first achievement,” she said.

Mrs Koto said Niko was the eldest of her two children and was the first prefect in their family.

“This is only the first step for Niko and he has to climb many more steps to reach his goals,” she said.

But as young as he his, young Niko has already made up his mind to join the Police force when he grows up.

Mrs Koto said she would support him to fulfil his dreams.

Niko said: “I will work hard and become a Police officer.”.
