7s Captain Motivates Young Leaders

Vodafone Fijian 7s captain Osea Kolinisau yesterday gave some words to motivate the prefects of Veiuto Primary School in Suva.
He was the chief guest at the prefect induction. Teammates Viliame Mata and Emosi Mulevoro accompanied him.
Mr Kolinisau told the students about grooming inspirational and exemplary leaders and the challenges prefects face.
“Being a leader is not an easy job. It is a responsibility that has been passed down to you by your teachers who have seen the potential in you,” Mr Kolinisau told the prefects.
He said there were two types of leaders.
“First are the leaders who delegate authority by ordering others to do the work and then there are leaders who serve and show people the way.”
He shared his experience of being the captain of the Fijian 7s team.
“It is not an easy task because sometimes you have to be strong when your team is weak and sometimes you have to be their voice when they cannot speak.
“I serve to lead and I lead to serve,” he said.
He said he felt proud, not only being the chief guest, but also being able to badge his younger brother, the deputy headboy Jefica Kolinisau.
“I felt proud and privileged to badge my own brother and see him get recognition for his leadership qualities.”
Veiuto Primary School inducted 64 prefects which included the headboy, headgirl and their deputies.
Headgirl Loata Rokobigi, meanwhile, reminded the prefects on the importance of their role and their responsibilities.
“You can be the change you want to see in the world and you can make a difference in whatever role you choose. It is up to you to make the change,” she said.
