Biblical Teachings For Prefects

Saint Augustine Public School headteacher Mosese Cabecuva used biblical teachings to inspire their school prefects.
The Labasa school inducted 49 students – from Year One to Year Eight last Friday.
Mr Cabecuva quoted from the Book of Deuteronomy Chapter One verses nine to 18 and from Exodus Chapter 18 verses 13 to 26.
“Moses was a great leader at that time, but he needed help and so his father-in-law, Jethro suggested to him what to do,” Mr Cabecuva said.
“Leaders who can settle small disputes fairly, whether it concerns only your own people or foreigners who live among you; show no partiality in your decisions, judge everyone on the same basis no matter who they are.
““You are to make the work easier by being the school’s and teachers’ ears, eyes and mouth. I challenge you to have faith and rise up to be at the right place at the right time doing the right thing.”
Meanwhile, the headboy is Zenal Lal, 12, of Wailevu.
“Being a son of a lorry driver and from a humble family background, I didn’t expect teachers to appoint me as their headboy,” Zenal said.
“Nevertheless, I will work hard to be a role model and lead by example keeping in mind that my action speaks louder than my words,” he said.
