Parents Pledge Support For Teachers

The parents of the prefects of Delainamasi Government School in Nasinu presented a tabua or whale’s tooth to the teachers to show their support and help in the education of their children.

They presented the tabua to the headteacher, Paula Manumanunitoga during their prefects induction last Friday.

The parents also badged their children who were prefects.

“In my career as a teacher and headteacher, I have never experienced such a gesture as shown today by the parents of Delainamasi,” Mr Manumanunitoga said.

“I am grateful and delighted to be working with you as we try and serve the students of Delainamasi Government School to the best of our ability.”

Meanwhile, Eparama Tekuru Naisele was appointed the headboy.

“I am thrilled and I thank God for the appointment. I know I have a big task ahead of me, but I thank the teachers for trusting me,” Eparama said.

He comes from a family of prefects.

His mother, Emelini Usakilakeba, was the headgirl of Adi Cakabau School (ACS) in 1983. His father Eci Naisele was the deputy headboy of Queen Victoria School (QVS) in 1980 and his sister, Lusi is a former headgirl for Delainakaikai Primary School in Tailevu.

“Coming from a background of leaders will guide and help me in my role this year. I will count on my family for support,” Eparama said.
