Canada Want To Bounce Back

Canada’s Women’s rugby team want to bounce back in the second round of the Women’s Sevens Series in Sao Paulo this weekend after a disappointing start in Dubai in the first round.
The Canadians are grouped alongside the Telecom Fijiana, Australia and Ireland in Pool A.
Speaking to Herald Sports Canada’s head Coach John Tait said they were looking forward to the challenge.
“We’re excited to get back into competition mode.
“It’s been a good couple of weeks of preparation since we returned from San Diego. We moved our setup down there for two weeks for the better weather, as the conditions are similar to what we see in the series,” Tait said.
Hannah Darling, Bianca Farella, Sara Kaljuvee and Ghislaine Landry return to the Canadian lineup while Coach John Tait gives a series debut to Breanne Nicholas.
Nicholas was named Rugby Canada’s Young Female Player of the Year in 2015. She has toured with Canada’s developmental Maple Leafs to Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Central Coast and Las Vegas.
“We’ve also had a chance to train with USA at their home base and scrimmage with them allowing us to try out some different tactics against someone other than ourselves.”
The Telecom Fijiana side beat Canada 24-10 in Dubai and the Fijiana side looks forward for another positive outing this weekend. Fijiana Captain Ana Maria Roqica believes her role this weekend will not be an easy one.
“It’s hard being a captain because you’ll have to watch the team’s performance on and off the field and that’s what Chris Cracknell talked to me about and that’s why he chose me for this task,” she said.
The Fijiana continues their preparation in Brazil and are looking forward for their game on Sunday.
