Education, Way Out of Poverty, Hardships: Reddy

Minister opens Hansel and Gretel Kindergarten in Nadi
Education is now seen as the way out of hardship, poverty and misery, says the Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts, Mahendra Reddy.
He made the comment while opening the new Hansel and Gretel Kindergarten at Nadi Arya Samaj Primary School.
“Education is not about just dishing out qualifications,” Mr Reddy said.
“It is about nation building. It is about empowering our children with the right education that will ensure we have a secure, prosperous and a stable Fiji.
“Ordinary Fijians are talking about quality education. Our children are not only competing with graduates within Fiji, but with others who graduate from other countries, and those in the global level market.”
Kindergarten teacher Sereima Bogitini said: “This is just wonderful for the children. Last year I started teaching, but we did not have any classroom so we sat with the committee and tried to start this new kindergarten.”
The school is owned and run by the Arya Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji.
The kindergarten has a roll of 45. Nadi Arya Samaj Primary School has 375.
