Headboy inspired by international football star

Justine Singh, after being inducted as the headboy of Guru Nanak Primary School in Labasa on Thursday, said he wanted to become an international football player.

The 12-year-old of Nasekula, Labasa, said his idol was Lionel Messi, a children’s activist and a star football player.

“I want to be an international football player and travel around the world, make good money and use it to help the young people and disadvantaged in my society.

“Although Mr Messi is famously quiet and private off the field, he has found ways to help out others in need.”

In early 2010, United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) named Messi a goodwill ambassador, with a focus on fighting for children’s rights across the globe.

The chief guest at the induction was Fiji Police Force northern divisional manager community policing Inspector Patemosi Wale. Edited by Paula Tuvuki
