Elder Henry B Eyring the first counsellor in the First Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints arrived in Suva on Friday to re-dedicate the Suva Fiji Temple.

The temple, at Princes Road in Suva, had been closed for renovations and refurbishment for the past 16 months.

He was accorded traditional Fijian welcome ceremony at the Nausori Stake Centre in Naulu last Friday.

Elder Eyring said there was no way he could describe how wonderful the welcome ceremony was.He wished the church’s president, Thomas S Monson, was here.

“We are here because the Lord is so proud and happy to see your faithfulness. There is a temple of God here and it’s because of the faith of you wonderful people that the Lord could do that and I’m grateful that he allowed me to come here to be with you and extend your love and blessing of the Lord to you and your families and all that you live with. You are wonderful people and children of God.”

“He has remembered you. The scriptures talk of those of the isles of the sea. The lord has never forgotten you and he does not forget you, he loves you and I have felt your faith and I would know that he’s certain that you have felt the love of God here and I have felt it.”
