RFMF 3FIR Relocates Mothers At CWM

Members of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), Third Battalion Fiji Infantry Regiment (3FIR), helped move mothers around the Colonial Memorial War Hospital’s maternity ward on Saturday night at the height of Tropical Cyclone Winston.

A mother, who recently gave birth at CWM Hospital, yesterday confirmed that more than 10 mothers were relocated from one room to the main hall way.

The RFMF had assisted them because their previous room was leaking and they needed to be moved for safety reasons.

This was confirmed to the Fiji Sun by the 3FIR commanding officer, Lieutenant-Colonel Penioni Naliva.

“We just heard the call and went in to offer our help and we were happy that we transferred all the mothers to a new room safely,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said the 3FIR team was helping clear the roads with the help of the Russian donated mobile workshop trucks.

He also confirmed that all 3FIR personnel were recalled for duties and all leave had been cancelled.
