Senivota Loses House, Plantation
Lania Salusalu 55, of Namosi taking shelter at Vashist Muni School evacuation center yesterday.

Maciu Senivota, 45, of Vacuko Rehabilitation Centre in Naboro not only lost his home but also lost his only source of income which was his dalo and cassava plantation.

“I have nothing and I have to build my house from nothing because everything was blown away,” he said.

Mr Senivota said his family had always relied on his plantation but now all that has been destroyed too.

He looks after 10 people in the house including his six children, his wife, a mentally ill brother, his father and an elderly family member.

The prospect of having to rebuild his house from practically nothing, with no source of income has forced Mr Senivota to seek assistance from the Government and NGO’s.

“I am asking for the Government to help me because I have nothing left; this cyclone took everything from me, even my plantation,” Mr Senivota said.
