12 Confirmed Dead In The West

The Western Division Emergency Operations Centre last night revealed that a total of 12 people have been confirmed dead in the Western Division from Cyclone Winston.
This was confirmed by divisional planning officer West Sitiveni Tavaga.
The 12 deceased are:
– Taniela Voreqe, 43, of Vanuakula, Drasa who flew by the force of the wind;
– Ravindra Lal, 48, of Saru, Lautoka died after a ceiling collapsed on him.
– Drowning victims – Pauliasi Naiova, 32, and Keresi Tupou, 98, from Nayavutoka Village, Ra.
– Titilia Mua, 33, from Matainananu and Vasiti Donu, 85, Vatusekiyasawa both from Rakiraki were hit by a fallen tree.
– Twelve-year-old, Josefa Tumura, from Naserelagi, Titilia Drekedreke, 46, of Naibita and Mereoni Nariga, 24, of Dreketi Settlement all from Ra were victims of flying debris.
– Gangamma, 76, from Rakiraki died after a house collapsed on her. She was lying on her bed when it happened.
– Osea Sivo of Ba died of excessive loss of blood after he was hit by an iron rod.
– Samisoni of Naisoso, Nadi, died after a container which he and his wife were taking shelter in flew half a kilometre away. His wife, Salanieta is currently admitted at the Nadi Hospital.
A Mr Tavaga added that the seven people from Nabukama Village who were reported missing at sea.
