Nabowalu and Savusavu jetties are closed as they are partly damaged by Cyclone Winston.

Commissioner Northern Joseva Vocea, during a briefing at the Macuata House conference room in Labasa yesterday morning, advised Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) to work with the engineers and find out if Malau jetty in Labasa can be temporary available for shipping services.

Northern Divisional Planning officer Alipate Bolalevu told Mr Vocea on Sunday that an inspection team reported that it would take a few weeks or months to repair the Nabowalu and Savusavu Jetty.

“As for the Taveuni, I will be visiting with my team to carry out our inspection and file report of damages today (Monday),” Mr Bolalevu said.

“Shipping services are very important and something must be done for the flow of goods and services,” Mr Vocea said. “I hope Malau jetty can be useful in such time of need.”
