Fiji Football Association awards night has been postponed till further notice.

FFA president Rajesh Patel has confirmed the night which was scheduled for March 5 will be postponed.

He said: “Given the destruction of Cyclone Winston, which have cost lives and this is not the right time to hold our awards night and we want to support each other in this difficult time.”

 

Postpone religious tournaments

Patel is also calling on all groups to cancel their Easter football tournaments which were scheduled for next month.

“Fiji Football would like to request all religious tournaments to cancel all their games this Easter.

“We would like to request all the managers and players that it would be nice to cancel the games.

“All our people, players and referees have been affected” Patel added.

Sanatan Pratinidhi Sabha national secretary Virendra Lal confirmed they would be having a meeting next month to confirm.

“We will have an executive meeting on March 6 to confirm.

“Meanwhile we will also be taking relief supplies to all affected areas whose been hit by the cyclone,” Lal said.

Sikh Football Association president Balmimdar Singh respects FFA call.

“FFA is our parent body we know that any decision they make in good faith we have to adhere to.

“We will have to meet to discuss about our tournament as we will need to hear out all the members before making our final decision,” Singh said.
