Fiji is going to get two patrol boats.

A spokesman from the Australia High Commission in Suva, confirmed this replacement project (Project SEA 3036) and the wider Pacific Maritime Security Programme.

He stated this demonstrate Australia’s continued commitment to maritime security in the Pacific region.

“The tender evaluation process is a necessarily rigorous part of this multi-year project.

“The Australian Government is in the process of considering the preferred design and tender proposal for the replacement vessels,” stated the spokesman.

The vessels will be gifted by the Australian Government as sovereign vessels, at no cost to the Fijian Government.

“After the Australian Government has made a decision on the preferred design, more information on production costs will become available.”
