The brother of a man who bled to death, has urged all to value life.

Cyclone Winston’s left another family in Nailaga Village, Ba, mourning their loved one, Osea Sivo.

Mr Sivo’s brother, Nadriva, 58, told Fiji Sun that his brother sustained injuries during the cyclone which resulted in his unexpected death, he said.

“Osea was in Koronubu (a small settlement outside Nailaga Village) when the cyclone hit Ba.

“As a result he had to take shelter in the village with his friends.”

But the house his brother took shelter in was battered by the winds.

“My brother’s death is a reminder to everyone that life is definitely uncertain and anything can happen anytime. Therefore we need to value it.

“He sustained a deep cut on his leg and was losing so much blood.”

Because of the weather, his brother could not be transported to the hospital. That added to the problem.

“Weather conditions at that hour were so bad it was impossible for any transportation to make a trip to the local hospital,” he said.

“As a result, my brother bled to death.”

He said this experience will never be forgotten.

“My family will never forget the destruction Tropical Cyclone Winston has caused to my family and the community as a whole,” he said.

Mr Sivo was buried on Sunday.
