PUBLIC ADVISORY: CLOSURE OF NAUSORI HEALTH CENTRE AT VUNIVIVI Members of the public are advised that the Nausori Health Centre is no longer operating from Vunivivi. Services available at the health centre are now accessible at the Nausori Maternity Unity which is operational.

Power Restorations around the Country yesterday

Our teams continued with the power restoration and we were able to restore power supply to the following areas as of 6pm yesterday.

 FEA teams deployed to sites include:

  • Two fallen towers on the Nadarivatu line – FEA teams have started with preparatory works to replace these towers which has cut off power supply from the Nadarivatu Hydro Power Scheme. The Live line team from the Central Division has departed for the western Division and are expected to be in Nadarivatu by Thursday evening.
  • Work at the tower 11 site is expected to commence on Friday 26th February and the anticipated completion Saturday 12th March, 2016.
  •  In the meantime design works are underway for the replacement structure at the Tower 1 site. Construction will commence once the design has been completed and anticipated completion is by Thursday 31st March, 2016.
  • Fallen tower on the Wailoa to Vuda transmission line – FEA teams have started excavating temporary road access to this tower which has cut off supply of electricity from the Wailoa Power Station to the Western Division. Following a site visit by our team additional resources are being deployed to accelerate the road works. A team of line mechanics has departed from the Central Division with the temporary tabular pole structure and should be reaching Lautoka tonight. By Thursday evening they will be joined by line mechanic teams from the Western Division and will be in camp in Balevuto, Ba. The team accepts to commence works on the construction of the temporary tubular pole structure by this weekend following site preparatory works.


  • Wainikasou Power Line – the services of a contractor has been hired and it is expected that works will commence on the repairs to the fallen poles on Wednesday 24th February, 2016. Unfortunately, our contractors could not go past the Matainasau crossing.
  • Vuda to Rarawai 33kV Sub-transmission Line – Twelve out of the two hundred and ninety six poles are down on this line. Planning and preparatory works has been completed and the FEA team and contractors are expected to start works on site on Wednesday 24th February, 2016. This power line transports power from Vuda towards Ba, Tavua & Rakiraki.
