30-member squad to prepare for Rio Olympics

Fiji Football Association has named a 30-member Vodafone Fijian Under-23 and national team squad to march into camp on Monday at Fiji FA Academy in Suva.

Acting Fiji FA president and national team director Tarunesh Reddy said the team will be in camp until March 11.

“We planned to have the camp in Ba but after looking at the devastation caused by Cyclone Winston in the Western division we had no option but to shift the camp in Suva.

Reddy expresses his sympathy to the players and officials who have been affected by Tropical Cyclone Winston.

“I heartily sympathise with all those who have been affected, and we won’t have much time to prepare for the Rio Olympics.

“The door is open and if any player impresses our coaching players will be called in, “said Reddy.

He said all players to bring in their passport, photograph and birth certificate.

The Fijian U23 side is preparing for their first ever participation in the Rio Olympics and the national team will play in the Pacific Nations Cup in May.
