“Another plane has arrived containing water purification hygienic equipment and the most important thing is the Water Treatment Unit which is a very big machine which can provide drinkable water from the river.

“It can provide one hundred litres of water per minute so it’s good for the village it kills 99.99 per cent bacteria.

“The machine will be accompanied by two technicians who will set up the machine and it will be deployed in Taveuni or in another place according to what the NDMO instructs us to do,” Mr Jules said.

The aircraft that transported the humanitarian aid is named the CASA that is able to land or take off on a short length of airstrip.

At the request of the Fijian authorities it will remain on site to ensure the transport of aid to the most affected areas.
