A-G Addresses Plight Of Families In Ba

The families of Nakoroboya Village in Ba have thanked the Government for the effort in reaching out to the remotest communities which affected by the cyclone.
The village is accessible through an hour of travelling through rugged and mountainous terrains.
A team led by the Attorney-General and Minister for Finance Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum visited the Nakoroboya community to deliver immediate relief assistance and discuss the way forward in addressing their challenges.
The villagers commended the commitment of Government to reach out and ensure the welfare of the families and help them in rebuilding their lives.
The visit inspired the families to work together with Government to rebuild their lives.
When interviewed, Valerio Vodo, 37, said the village sustained major damage and seven homes were completely destroyed.
But that has not dampened their spirit to start life afresh.
“We, as a village, will work together to rebuild the seven homes as this signifies the true Fijian spirit,” Mr Vodo said.
“We will also work together to reconstruct the village school that has been partially damaged.”
He thanked Government for the assistance provided to their community.
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum will continue his three-day Western Division tour today covering affected areas in Tavua and Rakiraki.
