C.J.Patel Group Hands Over Relief Packages Worth $232K

C.J. Patel Group managers and staff worked through the day and night to pack Cyclone Winston relief supplies.
Five thousand packages were put together.
Group Country Manager Vishwa Sharma then made the handover to Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and fellow Government minister Rosy Akbar at the group’s S.C.Foods factory in Ba.
Mr Sharma said: “Fiji and her people are going through difficult time after cyclone Winston and CJP Group is morally duty bound to step forward and assist as Fiji and her people have played a very big part in CJP Group’s progress.
“Fijians are resilient and we are confident our people will get back up quickly and our 5,000 relief packs will certainly assist in this regard.
“Each pack is valued at $46.50 and C.J.Patel Group’s total assistance package is valued at $232,500.”
Mr Sharma stressed that the C.J.Patel Group firmly believes in a single window disaster relief operation to avoid duplication and wastage.
Hence it agrees with Government’s call to direct all relief help via the National Disaster Management Office.
Sixteen truckloads brought the relief packages from Suva.
Each relief pack contains basic food items – flour, rice, Rewa milk powder, Royal Tea, Devondale liquid milk, WeetBix, Skipper Tuna. Sanitary items – Colgate toothpaste, Colgate tooth brush, Delsy Twin pack toilet paper. Laundry care – Cold Power laundry powder and Pacific laundry bar.
“These basic items we believe will give the people a leg up on their recovery journey,” Mr Sharma said.
