Investigation is continuing on how a 26-year-old electrical line worker suffered a severe electrical shock at Natabua, Lautoka yesterday.

The man, who is an employee of the Suva-based sub-contractor Power Electric Limited, is currently admitted at the ICU ward at the Lautoka Hospital in a critical condition.

Power Electric Limited managing director Mahen Prasad said, “We confirm the incident happening. We are still investigating with authorities and we will reveal the cause once we have the full findings.”

He said the incident happened when the electrician was trying to repair a broken power line.

He was immediately rushed to the Lautoka Hospital where he remains admitted.

Acting Commissioner of Police Brigadier- General Sitiveni Qiliho said, “The best people to speak on the issue would be Fiji Electricity Authority.”

FEA continues to work overtime to restore power around the country.

Calls made to FEA’s main spokesperson Karunesh Rao and an e-mail remained unanswered when this edition went to press last night.
