Samoa’s failure to reach the Cup competition in the last three rounds of the World Sevens Series  means they find themselves in the same pool as series leaders Fiji and two other sides who have reached semi-finals in 2015-16 in Argentina and France.

Coach Damian McGrath, whose side lost to Canada in Bowl final in Sydney last time out, will hope for an improvement in Las Vegas as they continue to build towards the repechage tournament in Monaco in June and the final chance to secure a place at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

There will be two new faces in the Samoa squad in Alamanda Motuga and Alex Samoa after they impressed for the Auckland Marist side that won last weekend’s Vailima Marist International Sevens event.

Samoa squad:

Faalemiga Selesele, Alefosio Tapili, Alamanda Motuga, Belgium Tuatagaloa, Tele’a Seumanutafa, Savelio Ropati, Phoenix Hunapo-Nofoa, Tila Mealoi, Alex Samoa, Samoa Toloa, Eddie Fidow, Tomasi Alosio.
