Ensure no Fijian is left behind.

That was the directive Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama gave all advisory councillors in areas affected by Cyclone Winston.

He said they must all work together with the National Disaster Management Office and ensure no Fijian is left behind.

Mr Bainimarama met more than 20 advisory councillors from Ba, Tavua, and Rakiraki at the NDMO centre at Rakiraki Town to voice his concern that the cyclone aftermath assistance was not reaching all Fijians.

“I have received reports that there is a need to ensure that all Fijians who have suffered to have access to the relief items,” he said.

“We need to progress in an efficient manner and to be able to reduce the burden of our fellow Fijian women, men and children.

“I just came here to have a discussion with the advisory councillors just to make sure that they work together with DISMAC.”

The PM is also concerned because there were some miscommunication which resulted in the delay of distribution of cyclone relief items to ordinary Fijians especially those who  are suffering.

Mr Bainimarama praised Government ministers, senior Government officials, the civil service and non-government organisations for their continued efforst in distributing the relief items to the affected areas around the country. He said all disaster relief supplies and operation must be made out to all Fijians as priority.
