The Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Faiyaz Siddiq Koya praised the people of Ra for their resilience and thanked them for their patience.

He assured everyone he visited with  a team of officials from his Ministry that the Fijian Government was doing everything possible to ensure that relevant support is provided to them to get their lives back to normal. He also encouraged everyone to stay positive.

Minister Koya emphasised that the main focus of the Fijian Government was to ensure that basic necessities are provided to each individual who has been affected.

He also encouraged evacuees at the evacuation centres he visited that they should focus on re-building their lives and it should start with them moving back to their homes and that the Government is working towards immediately providing temporary shelters.

Over the past three days Mr Koya had visited 18 villages and settlements and seven evacuation centres in Ba and Ra provinces.  A total of 1054 families have been provided with relief and food rations.  This means approximately 5270 Fijians have been given relief and food rations.
