No More Death or Injuries

Taveuni District officer (DO) Kalivati Rabuka and his team are currently in Qamea Island delivering food rations.

The island beside Taveuni Island in the Northern Division was not spared by Cyclone Winston either.

Commissioner Northern Jovesa Vocea told Fiji Sun yesterday that there was no more reports of deaths or injuries.

“Mr Rabuka and his team have been visiting the people in the island for over five days carrying out assessment,” Mr Vocea said.

“They have reported to me that there is no major damage to houses however, damages to agriculture have been noted. Arrangement of food ration was made in advance and the team are currently on the island distributing food rations.

“At this moment I cannot provide details of damages or cost of damages as my team is still out on the island. However, by end of this week we will have full report at hand.”

Meanwhile, Mr Vocea has confirmed that the special northern emergency operation centre had carried out initial detail damage of assessment of outer islands but would be in a better position to release details later.
