Ballentine Memorial School yesterday accommodated students from Adi Cakobau School and Queen Victoria School who were affected by Tropical Cyclone Winston.

There was two students from Queen Victoria School in Year 10 and 11; a Year 10 student from Adi Cakobau School.

School principal Mitieli Ralesi said: “We are accepting these students to join our school on humanitarian grounds; these are students who live nearby our school,” he said.

“We have welcomed them into our school and hope to assist them in their academic work; our teachers have been working around the clock, making sure  in assisting them with their school work.”

Mr Ralesi said they were in a position to accommodate students from cyclone hit schools however they would also consider the spaces available in the school.

“The directives will come from the Ministry of Education on the number of students from these areas to be accommodated in our school.

“This is a way in which we can assist students whose schools have been damaged in the cyclone; also to help academically while their school’s rebuild,” he said.
