Tourism Action Group Convenes Meeting

The Tourism Action Group (TAG) held a special meeting with industry stakeholders to share developments and plans for strengthening the tourism sector in light of the recent natural disaster.
Almost 100 people from the industry, representing both small and large tourism operators, attended the meeting at the Westin Ballroom on Denarau on Tuesday, with presentations made by TAG Chairman, Damend Gounder, Fiji Airways Marketing Manager, Franc Zvonar, and Tourism Fiji Executive Chairman, Truman Bradley.
TAG is a joint initiative of Tourism Fiji, Fiji Airways, Society Of Fiji Travel Associates (SOFTA), Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association (FHTA).
It has been confirmed that Fiji Airways will launch deeply discounted airfares and the industry supporting with special accommodation packages to key source markets. Other initiatives will include advertising and marketing campaigns and public relations efforts in market.
Mr Gounder urged all industry partners to align their plans to TAG and ensure that the experience for visitors is even better than their expectations.
Mr Bradley shared similar sentiments, encouraging the industry representatives to work as Team Fiji.
The Bula Fijian Tourism Exchange’s (BFTE), Bill Whiting also handed over F$100,000 cheque to get TAG’s activities started.
TAG is focusing on immediate actions to reduce booking cancellations due to the impact of Tropical Cyclone Winston to parts of Fiji.
Most importantly, TAG will focus on educating travellers that tourism in Fiji is very much active and ready to receive all our guests.
