Kiribati Gives $100K For Cyclone Relief

The Fijian Government today received $100,000 from the Kiribati Government for the Prime Minister’s National Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Fund.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, on Wednesday received the monetary assistance from Kiribati High Commissioner Reteta Rimon, who presented it on behalf of President Anote Tong and the people of Kiribati.

The donation would be directed to help those affected by severe Tropical Cyclone Winston.

High Commissioner Rimon said the people of Kiribati were saddened given the massive destruction caused by TC Winston.

She conveyed President Tong’s and the people of Kiribati’s condolences to the people of Fiji who lost their loved ones from the wrath of the cyclone.

Ratu Inoke said the people of Fiji were grateful and humbled by the gratitude expressed by their neighbours like Kiribati.

He said Government was grateful with all the assistance coming in from the international community.
