Three Queen Victoria School students received major boost from the organisers of the 3rd Martintar 7s Tournament on Wednesday night.

The trios are Apenisa Tokisaya, Nasoni Tamani and Josh Marau. They are members of the Cawa Methodist Chapel in Martintar, Nadi. They shared $500 to assist them with their school books and uniforms in their new schools.

Tokisaya who was also the winning QVS U14 captain in the Deans competition last year said they still have hopes for the school.

“We want to convey our deep appreciation to the church elders for the timely assistance.

“We are blessed to survive the monster cyclone and thank the church members for always remembering us in prayers.

“We have vowed to work hard in our new schools,” Tokisaya said.

Media liaison officer Timoci Waqaniburotu said the three QVS students would be helping out during the Martintar 7s tournament as ball boys.

“The organisers will also hold a fundraising dinner at their church hall on Friday (tonight). Funds collected will be given to church members whose house was partly damaged by cyclone Winston.”

He added the church members will assist in cash and kind on Friday night (tonight) to be forwarded to the Namaka Methodist Church Circuit Cyclone Appeal to assist all Fijians.

Meanwhile, Air Terminal Services (Fiji) Ltd has also pledged their support towards the tournament. The company donated $500.

Tournament committee chairman Epineri Qila thanked ATS.

“This is the first year for ATS to provide cash sponsorship and the organisers are hopeful that it is the beginning of a good relationship in terms of assisting those in need,” Qila said.

The 3rd Martintar 7s will be held on March 18-19 at Prince Charles Park, Nadi with only 48 teams to compete.
