Swami Vivekananda College has welcomed 13 students from various schools that were affected by Tropical Cyclone Winston.

This includes six students from Queen Victorias School (QVS), sixth form St John’s College (SJC), and one from Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS) who is in Year 12.

Birisita Koroiveibau is among students from SJC.

“My stationery was all in the dorm, but now with the help of other students, I am copying notes into my books,” she said.

“At the moment the power is out, but when it is reconnected, the school will photocopy the rest of the notes.”

The 17-year-old Year 12 student is from Nasilai, Rewa.

Nemia Vainitoba from RKS said the relocation would not affect his academic performance.

“I will work hard while at SVC,” the Nakavu, Nadi lad said.

Vice-principal Sabra Hussein said, “We have welcomed students into the school. We also know that some students have lost all or some of their notes and we are doing the best we can to assist them.

“As soon as the power is reconnected, we will photocopy and give out notes to students who need them. We are giving out stationery and textbooks to help the students,” she said.

Ms Hussein said the College would provide food to students if the need arises.
