131 Dengue Cases Confirmed

The Ministry of Health and Medical Service have recorded 131 confirmed cases of dengue for the period from January 1 to February 15 this year.
Assistant Minister for Health and Medical Services Veena Bhatnagar said: “The public is urged to ensure their surroundings are clean and free of dengue mosquito breeding places.”
Ms Bhatnagar said she understood some people were homeless after the destruction caused by Tropical Cyclone Winston however they still needed to clear their surrounding environment.
“People must ensure their surroundings are clean and any items such as old tyres or drums should be placed in such a way that it does not collect water, allowing dengue mosquitoes to breed,” she said.
About 800 dengue cases were recorded in Fiji last year.
