The Vodafone Fijian 7s team lost their opening game 24-28 to South seas brothers Samoa at Sam Boyd Stadium.
According to World Rugby Stats this is Fiji’s first loss in the pool match since 2014 London 7s.
Samoa were hungry for a win. They looked ruthless in defence in the opening half and maintain pressure to lead with 14 points as captain Faalemiga Selesele scoring a double and were successfully converted by Tila Mealoi.

Fiji will face France in its second Pool C game at 4.30pm.
