The Fijian Teachers Association have already granted disaster relief grants to more than 2000 of its members affected by Tropical Cyclone Winston that hit Fiji more than a week ago.

FTA president Gauna Halofaki said this was to assist their members whose properties were damaged during the cyclone.

The grants are given at a maximum of $500 and a minimum of $100.

“This is just to help them start over after the destruction to their homes after the cyclone,” Mr Halofaki said.

FTA has a total of more than 4000 members.

As part of its effort in assisting students affected by TC Winston, the association has also offered its main hall for tutorial with 100 chairs and desks and free stationery.
