In bid to assist people affected by Tropical Cyclone Winston, the management, teachers and students of Nakasi High School contributed more than $1000 towards the Prime Minister’s relief fund.

School Principal Praveen Chand said: “The initiative was from the student council who were overwhelmed to see children’s suffering and decided to do something.

“We would like to show our solidarity with all the students who have been affected by the cyclone,” he said.

Member of Parliament Balmindar Singh received the money on behalf of the Fijian Government yesterday.

Mr Chand said it took them two days to collect the money after the announcement was made in the assembly on Tuesday.

I would like to thank all students, parents and teachers for their assistance towards the appeal,” he said.

Mr Singh on behalf of the Fijian Government thanked the school for their kind contribution towards the PM’s relief fund.
