Naupoto, Qiliho And Kean Fill Top Jobs

The President, Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote, following a meeting with the Constitutional Offices Commission yesterday appointed the heads of the disciplined forces.
Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto is the new Commander of the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces.
He said he was honoured and humbled.
“I understand the responsibilities of this role, especially at this time.”
He said the appointment was an opportunity to lead and to shape the direction of the RFMF.
Taking on the role of Commissioner of Police is Brigadier General Sitiveni Tukaituraga Qiliho.
“I’d like to thank the Constitutional Offices Commission and the President of Fiji for confirming my appointment now as the Commissioner of Police,” he said.
“There’s a lot of work to be done, there are things that we are targeting to achieve and I will not disappoint them in their faith in appointing me to the position.”
Former Permanent Secretary for Works and Transport, Commander Francis Bulewa Kean, is the Commissioner of the Fiji Corrections Service.
He was thankful to the Constitutional Offices Commission for the appointment.
“I wish not to make any further comments until I settle into the job,” he said.
According to Section 135 (1) of the Constitution, the three appointments will hold office for five years and are eligible for re-appointment.
The appointments came into effect yesterday.
