School Heads Aim High

I have a dream and I am going to make sure it comes true, says Ravneet Prasad.
The 15-year-old was inducted as the headboy of Labasa School for Special Education during the prefect induction on Wednesday.
Ravneet, the only child in the family, wants to be a mechanic. He lives at Korowiri, Labasa.
“Although I have hearing problems, I don’t see myself as incapable or have low esteem,” Ravneet said.
“I have a dream to become a mechanic and I know I can do it. Being the headboy of this school is the beginning of my new career path and I feel proud for putting a smile on my parents’ faces,” he said.
Headgirl Devina Goundar said she felt excited to be chosen by the teachers to lead the school.
“I always had a dream to become headgirl and even though I study in a special school, I thank the school for educating me to learn something and become someone in life,” the 13-year-old said. She is the eldest of three children from Siberia. She aspires to become a machinist and work in one of the garment factories in Labasa.
