University of the South Pacific Students Association (USPSA), Lautoka Campus has taken its stand to help students who were affected by Tropical Cyclone Winston.

It has set aside $15,000 to help affected  students.

Association president Niten Singh said: “Those students who attend Lautoka Campus and are from Rakiraki, Tavua, Ba and Lautoka who have been affected by Cyclone Winston are eligible to apply for this aid,” Mr Singh said.

“The listed areas are the most affected therefore, if any student is facing any difficulty with paying schools fees or any other financial constraint, they can inquire at the Lautoka Campus.

“Twelve thousand dollars will be used to pay for partial payment of students’ school fees and three thousand dollars would be used to accommodate those students who are finding it difficult to pay for their transportation.”

He said private students would be given priority.

“Students from the affected locations who do not have a scholarship or loan scheme will be given the most priority.

“This way we will be able to reach needy students in the campus,” he said.
