It is times like this we see unity in a nation and better yet schools. Regardless of gender, ethnicity, age, etc, it is heart-warming to see schools opening doors for other school students.

Jai Narayan College (JNC) student council vice-president Alesane Saluka with a team of 24 came up with a drive called “We build our nation.”

The drive is to help collect money, donations, books and anything for students who were affected by Tropical Cyclone Winston.

“Basically as a human being we are anxious and we want to collect money and kind donation of books, stationery, clothes and anything that could help these students,” Alesane said.

Meanwhile, JNC is accommodating 14 QVS students and the principal Segran Pillay said: “We are assisting these students as much as we can, photocopying all their notes because  they have lost their belongings and books.

Max Taylor, a Year 13 student of QVS acknowledges the help being provided by the students and teachers as they are behind with their syllables compared to JNC.

“The students are very kind and helpful and we  feel comfortable being in a school that consists of so many national toppers,” Max said.
