John Wesley, founder of the Methodist church once said: “Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as you can.”

These words had driven the church through the years and today through this philosophy all collections by the Methodist Church of Fiji will go towards the reconstruction of buildings damaged by Tropical Cyclone Winston.

Church spokesperson, Reverend James Bhagwan said they had distributed food and clothes to the affected.

“Now the shift is towards our damaged buildings,” he said.

Some of the church buildings in affected areas were damaged.

He said residences for the church chaplains and schools would be the focus.

“Work on all damaged buildings will start soon.”

Reverend Bhagwan said they were asking those evacuees at the churches if they could move if they had a place to go to.

Stressing the importance of education he said: “The churches are available if needed by the Ministry of Education for classes.”
