He died from serious injuries sustained after he had jumped out of a moving vehicle near Qereqere along Sigatoka Valley last Wednesday.

Meanwhile a 13-year-old child is admitted at the Sigatoka Hospital.

Police spokesperson Inspector Josaia Weicavu has confirmed that the child sustained injuries after allegedly jumping out of a moving three-tonne truck at Naceva Road in the Sigatoka Valley last Saturday.

Inspector Weicavu confirmed the child was in a stable condition and is recovering at the Sigatoka Hospital.

Drowning incident

A 13-year-old student of Nasomo Catholic School at Vuaki Village, Yasawa is Fiji’s latest drowning victim.

Police spokesperson Inspector Josaia Weicavu said the boy drowned when he went with three others on a fishing trip last Saturday.

Inspector Weicavu said an older woman tried to resuscitate the boy but was unsuccessful.

Parents and guardians are advised to again closely supervise their children especially in areas where schools are still closed.
