Attorney-General and Minister for Finance Hon. Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum today received a $100,000 cheque from Digicel Fiji CEO Darren McLean towards the Prime Minister’s National Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Fund.

The AG expressed thanks to Digicel Fiji for their donation and for Digicel’s work in restoring network communications to affected areas and providing customers with free airtime.

“This donation – on top of the work Digicel Fiji is already doing – will help the Fijian Government continue its vital effort of rebuilding and recovering from TC Winston. We will continue to engage with the private sector to bring financial assistance and relevant expertise to our work responding to the needs of ordinary Fijians,” he said.

CEO Darren McLean praised the Fijian Government’s efforts in assisting and relieving cyclone victims.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to commend the Government on their rapid action over the past two weeks to stabilize the lives of Fijians who have been adversely affected by this cyclone,” he said.
