Among organisations providing  psychological support to victims of Cyclone Winston is the Fiji Red Cross Society.

New Zealand Red Cross team member Holly Griffin is in the country providing training to staff members in terms of a psycho social training.

Ms Griffin is assisting eight staff and volunteers on how to counsel people after a traumatising event and in this case after Cyclone Winston.

It is called the “Psychological First Aid Programme” and the psycho social training started on March 4.

One most recent life-changing event which the NZ Red Cross had previously been involved in was the earthquake which struck Christchurch in 2011 killing about 185 people.

The Fiji Red Cross Society has received numerous assistance from neighboring countries and friends.

In total they have so far received donations of $560,000 internationally and nationally and kit donations are still flooding in.
