Members of the public are warned to refrain from abusing or attacking essential  service providers during this State of Natural Disaster Emergency period.

The Fiji Electricity Authority has lodged an official complaint at the Nausori Police Station about one of their vehicles being stoned whilst their electricians were on duty. This, they say could be the act of disgruntled members of the people for the reason of delay in electricity restoration into their community or nearby villages.

In another incident, we have begun to receive reports of NDMO officials allegedly being abused by some members of the public upon their ration distribution. Initial investigations reveal that there are some people who are not satisfied with the current mode of service by Government Official.

We request your patience in this period of time as Government Officials together with relevant stakeholders work collectively in the relief distribution at the aftermath of Tropical Cyclone Winston.  We urge you all to be patient and support Government in its efforts to try and rehabilitate affected Fijians from Tropical Cyclone Winston.

At the same time, the Fiji Police Force will not condone such incidents of stoning, assault or attack onto these officials and necessary investigations will be carried out when these reports are received.
